Hebei
North University (HebeiNU), a multi-faculty university under provincial
administration, was founded in May 2003, approved by Ministry of
Education and combined from former three provincial-administrated
institutions of higher learning in Zhangjiakou: Zhangjiakou Medical
College (ZJKMC) which was founded in 1946, Zhangjiakou Teacher¡¯s
College (ZJKTC), Zhangjiakou Advanced Postsecondary Agriculture
School (ZJKAPAS). The three predecessors enjoys long histories,
rich experience of education, and makes great contributions to local
economic development, social progress, talent cultivation and intellectual
support. It has become one of key universities for the new century
in Hebei Province. HebeiNU is located in Zhangjiakou, a famous city beyond the Great Wall and Well-known as North Gate or Back Garden to Beijing and is about 2 hours by car from Beijing .Situated at the intersection of Hebei Province, Shanxi Province, Beijing and Inner Mongolia along the magnificent Great Wall, Zhangjizkou is homeland for schooling and academy, civilizing and discipline. The university is the centers for education, researching and training in the fields of medicine, teacher¡¯s cultivation and agronomy. The university occupies a surface of 1,809mu, including schoolhouse 410,000 sqm, laboratory 31,000 sqm, and library 14,200 sqm. The college possesses teaching and research instrument valued £¤80 million, and book 1,01 million volumes. The First Affiliated Hospital is an equipment-advanced, first-class hospital at the intersection of Hebei Province, Shangxi Province, Beijing and Inner Mongolia which has 1500 beds for practice. The university second hospital is also a well known hospital in Zhangjiakou having 500 beds for practice. There are also other 30 hospitals in and out of city which can be used as practice. The university has established campus LAN, medical laboratory center, DNA identification centre, computer laboratories, multi-media classrooms; FM broadcast transmission stations and foreign language audio transmission units. The university¡¯s library is a member of sub-station of China Journal Mirror Net and equips with electronic reading rooms and literature disk retrieving systems. The university boasts 26 teaching departments, 5 teaching sectors and 2 teaching centers. The university enrolls students from 18 different provinces. Now, the university has regular, full-time undergraduates and advanced postsecondary specialized students 15,000 and registers various categories of adult students 12,000. So far, the university has cultivated varied categories 50,000 for the society and accepted visiting scholars and students from 29 countries and regions. |
Medical laboratory test is the
first of its kind in universities and colleges nationwide. The same
is forensic medicine, and information management and information system
in Hebei Province. After many years of practice, we have possessed
numerous academic areas of relative advantage, such as pathology and
pathophysiology, human anatomy, histology and embryology, pharmacology,
clinical laboratory test diagnostics, animal and plant reproduction,
and veterinary, which are of certain influence in North china, even
in the whole country. Pathology and pathophysiology are two provincial
academic areas of accented development. Experimental diagnostics and
pathophyiology are two provincial elite courses.

The university is quite strong in research and fairly prominent in research achievements. In recent ten years, the university has undertaken more then 300 research items, of which 4 items are funded by National Natural Science Foundation, and 90 items by Ministries or Hebei Province. Among the forthcoming research items, 131 items gained national, ministerial or provincial pries, of which one item is the Third Class of National Science and Technology Progress Prize, 2 items are the First Class of Province science and Technology Progress Prize, and 5 items are the Second or Third Class of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Prize, one item is National Excellent Teaching Achievement Prize. In recent 5 years, 7,500 papers have been published in academic journals above provincial levels. Four hundred and ten people attended and announced their papers at domestic or international academic conferences. Thirty=six papers are taken by EI. Pathophysiological division of the university takes the national lead in conducting lymphatic micro-circulation investigation in vivo, of which physiological and physiological investigation in lymphatic micro-circulation is characteristic and advantageous of Hebei Province, with its research achievements being internationally advanced |
